SMUD Energy-Efficiency Rebates: There’s an App for That (A Facebook App That Is).

Each Facebook app had more than 1,600 active users in just a month’s time.

SMUD had some major challenges communicating the savings their customers could enjoy by using energy-efficiency rebates. The information on their website seemed confusing and overwhelming for visitors, leaving them in the dark on how they could save. Leveraging SMUD’s desire to use Facebook reach their customers quickly and simply, AugustineIdeas used new technology to create two apps on the Facebook page, one for businesses and one for residential.

Through these custom interfaces, AugustineIdeas started conversations with fans of the page, communicated savings information, shared energy saving tips, and offered fans a chance to share their tips and interact with each other. Suddenly it was like a “virtual lightbulb” went off and SMUD customers were actively engaged.
