When I was asked to help provide media relations assistance to Sacramento’s Convoy of Hope, I immediately accepted the opportunity. With just nine days to go before the event, it would be a short term commitment, an exciting challenge to overcome and a lot of work.
Although it required long hours (getting up at three and four in the morning a few times), the results were worth it. More than 2,300 volunteers showed up to help more than 13,000 guests get access to free medical care, haircuts, groceries, job placement assistance and more. As a public relations professional, I was even happy with the 1.2 million people that saw our stories on TV. Hundreds of thousands more heard our interviews on radio stations like KFBK and KLOVE or read about the event in The Sacramento Bee and Roseville Patch.

I look forward to using some of the relationships I strengthened with local media to assist with other client events in the future and continuing to help community organizations throughout the Sacramento region.
